These are samples of some of the many Custom Spiral variations available.  These samples are approximatley 3" in diameter. However, samples 1 thru 4 can be made in diameters from 2" up to 8".  All styles can be made in both left and right hand spirals. Samples 1, 2, and 3 are 2-start turnings.

1. Classic Rope.  Shown is a 2" rope (measured vertically from valley to valley), right hand spiral.  Other rope sizes available: 1", 1-1/2", 3".

2. Rope & Bead.  Shown is a 2" rope with an approximately 1/2" pointed bead.

3. Rope & Cove. Shown is a 1-1/2" rope with a 1" cove.

4. Diamond Pattern. The pattern shown is approximately square with a radius groove. The diamond size (longer vertically than horizontal or vice/versa) and the type of groove (sharp pt., radius....) can be adjusted to suit your needs.

5. Hollow Spiral. The hollow spiral can add a dramatic effect to a turning. However, the hollow turning must be used sparingly as it weakens the turning and should only be used with sound, clear hardwoods. Maximum diameter is about 4".

6. Barley Twist. Shown is a 3" Barley twist (measured vertically from valley to valley), left hand spiral. Other sizes available: 1", 2". A Barley twist is a single start turning that produces a bold look while appearing to be turned off center.
